Firsts

Last month or so I finally had the chance to cross off 2 items on The List. Actually, more like 1.5 (You’ll understand why.). It’s a number of ‘firsts’ for me.
On 23rd March, I took short trip down to Singapore to fulfill a long time dream - Watch Coldplay! It’s funny to see them live now, considering I’ve been listening to them since secondary school.
It was pretty darn amazing - They started off with ‘Life in Technicolor (i)’, and ended with ‘Life in Technicolor (ii)’.
Then when they played ‘Yellow’, these bunch of giant yellow balloons got thrown out to the audience, and when burst, out came yellow colored confetti.
They moved over to the end of the left runway, played a medley of ‘God Put A Smile On Your Face’ and ‘Talk’ on a drum machine (Remix kinda feel.)
Later on, they literally got off the stage, went to the center-right side of the stadium, got on a podium, and played an acoustic set right there and then. Drummer Will Champion can sing!
Finally, for the encore, the whole stadium was singing ‘Oo-oh, oh oh’ from ‘Viva la Vida’, where they duly came on to play ‘The Scientist’ & ‘Life in Technicolor (ii)’.
Overall, they played nearly all of ‘Viva la Vida’, and all their famous hits. No other pics for you guys - The memories are just for me!

Prior to 5th April, I got a call from NZX quoting a sweet deal for some F1 tickets. Why not? I’m all for it.
Come 5th April, it’s like Murphy’s Law decided to hit us in its full glory.
There was the traffic jam, and when we arrived, it looked like this:
Then I realized my tickets were with NZX, whose car got stuck in the mud while parking, and needed passerbys to help pull it out.
Then it started pouring like nobody’s business, and we got really drenched.
By the time we got in, it was almost 5.30pm, when the race started at 5pm. The track looked like this:
And to top it all off, the race was stopped temporarily, and later announced that it won’t be restarted!
Yeah, disappointment is a bunch of guys with a bunch of F1 tickets, and a bunch of wet clothes.
It was disappointing of course, knowing we saw nuts, plus Ferrari ended up with no points at all.
The next time I go, I’ll sit on the grass. And remember to:
1. Bring an umbrella/poncho
2. Bring earplugs
3. Take your tickets early
4. Go there friggin’ early

How contrasting 2 major events that I attended (or tried to attend) ended up. Guess life has its funny way of saying “Screw you! You’re not watching F1 today!”
